Since it allowed developers to advertise their mobile app install ads in the year 2012, social networking czar Facebook had come up with just a few upgrades, until now.
Facebook has recently announced their intention to brace App Event optimization (AEO) across Facebook, Instagram and other participants from its audience network.
A welcome news for app developers, who will now get an opportunity to optimize most of the social networking arena by being able to effectively prompt their app install ads within the Facebook and Instagram apps.
While in the past, Facebook has made few updates to its advertising tool such as video support and the launch of a cost-per-action bidding version, besides actions like “Open Link”, “Use App” and “Play Game” – the inclusion of ‘App Events’ feature is a real gift for app developers.
The new AEO based advertising model will help app developers and marketers to further customize their target audience.
App developers and promoters can now choose from an array of events such as ‘Complete Registration’, ‘Purchase’, ‘Add to Cart’, ‘Level Achieved’ etc., which means that they now have a freedom to position their app install ad at any of the aforementioned event, narrowing down to the most relevant audience.
The app event selection will take precedence over the demographic selection of target audience. So, the Facebook algorithm will first match the app’s historical data with consumer statistics and then target the audience basis the demographic preference, before displaying the ad prompting to install the mobile app.
Top officials at Facebook explain this move as an attempt to provide the right audience to mobile apps, helping app developers effectively enhance their business.
While few gaming and business apps are already leveraging the freedom to display their app install ads at specific events, many more stand to benefit greatly from this move by Facebook.
